The Galactic Federation values Earth colony K-2L for its abundant reserves of the precious mineral Afloraltite. During a visit by the Chozo, an ancient tribe of bird-like creatures renowned for their wisdom, Old Bird, one of their prominent elders, takes an interest in Samus Aran, a fearless human toddler. While Samus enjoys a peaceful existence on K-2L with her parents, their world is disrupted when the merciless Space Pirate, Ridley, and his crew of monstrous aliens arrive.
Ridley mercilessly attacks the inhabitants of K-2L, yet Samus manages to escape a brutal fate. The Chozo comes to her rescue, taking her to their home planet, Zebes, where they raise her as one of their own. To give her fragile body strength to handle the harsh conditions of their planet, Samus is infused with Chozo DNA.
As a young adult, Samus becomes a prominent bounty hunter of the Galactic Federation. Although dealing with the trauma she suffered as a child, she travels throughout the galaxy, battling deadly alien forces to protect innocent lives, and to bring peace to the neighboring worlds.
